Sound Effects....

I sat down in one of the bleachers in the auditorium, where we were practicing the play, and where the graduation was going to be at.
Ally sat right next to me, and some boy that I've never actually talked to sat on the other side of me.

"Good afternoon class!" Mrs. Carol said from on the stage.
"Good afternoon Mrs. Carol!" We shouted. I mumbled it, because I was still pretty ticked off at mrs. Carol!
"Our play will be held on June 8th! Because starting June 9th the school is starting to practice for the 6th grade graduation and they need to use the auditorium!" Mrs. Carol looked dissapointed.
"That means we only have about a week and a half to practice!" Ally frowned at that.

"Exactly! Well, Lets get started, I would like Joey and Diana to come on stage please." Mrs. Carol comanded, Joey had the part of Tony, and of course Diana had the part of Maria.
"I want you to practice singing in front of an audience, even if its only a couple of people" Mrs. Carol smiled at them.
"Oh and can the sound effects people come up to the stage, oh and Rebecca!" Mrs. Carol said. I looked shocked, and then I stood up and followed the sound effects people to the stage.

"Rebecca I was hoping that you would help with the sound effects" Mrs. Carol crossed her fingers, smiling. I frowned. Some people gasped, probally thinking that It was surprising that I didnt have a part in the play!
"But I thought I was going to be a background dancer!" I pouted and put my hands to my hips.

"Yes you are, but since being a background dancer is a little part, I was hoping you could help with the Sound Effects" Mrs. Carol anounced.
"I'm not even good with electronics!" I fake cried.
"Mason and Miley will help you with it!" Mrs. Carol pointed to two people, a boy and girl, they didnt look thrilled that they had to help me.
"B-b-ut..." I tried to protest.
"No buts, if you want to be a part of this play, you will help with the Sound Effects!" Mrs. Carol demanded.
"Ugh Fine!" I snapped and followed the sound effects crew to the back of the stage.
THIS SUCKS!

"Hi I'm Miley and this is Mason" A blonde haired girl pointed to a blonde haired boy.
"And let me guess, your twins?" I asked. They nodded.
"Were the people that are suppost to teach you the sound effects. Were head of the sound effects crew!" Mason smiled proudly.
"Your parents must be SO PROUD!" I said sarcastically.
"Very.." They said together knowing that I said it sarcastically but didnt care.

I rolled my eyes and looked out of the curtain to see Joey and Diana singing.

I sighed as I wished I was in Diana's place....

The Background Dancer

-CONTINUED FROM LAST POST! Sorry it took me so long to post this XD -

I rushed into Mrs. Carols Drama Room, Ally was right behind me. Mostly because I was pulling her at her wrist!

"MRS. CAROL! I need to talk to YOU!" I snapped as I walked fast towards her.
"Um..Okay Rebecca!" Mrs. Carol smiled her BIG (kinda fake) smile! I probally only thought it was fake cause I was mad at her.

"Why did you pick DIANA for the role of Maria?" I demanded to know.
"I thought she did really good at auditions.." Mrs. Carol looked at me with her big green eyes.
"And you thought I didnt do good?" I asked.
"I never said that!" Mrs. Carol shook her head.
"Well then why didnt you pick her?" Ally got into our conversation, her hands were on her hips.

"Ah..Miss Nichols I dont think this is any of your business, and Miss Rubin, I have to give EVERYBODY a chance! Yes, you were the best person to audition BUT this school, and especially this drama club, expresses everybody's talents! We have to let everybody have a chance for the role!" Mrs. Carol seemed to had had this speech all ready before I got here! She MUST have known I was going to come and make a big deal out of this.

I looked at Ally, who looked really mad at Mrs. Carole because she told her it wasnt her business.
Then I looked at Mrs. Carol, with her big green eyes, curly bleach blonde hair, and perfectly manicured nails.

I sighed, I guess Maria's backup isnt THAT bad. Its still pretty bad, but not that bad. And plus if something happend to Diana, then I would get to be Maria!

"Alright! But what do I do for the play, since I'm just a BACKUP!" I kinda hissed a little, and then looked at my nails.
"Well you could help with the sound effects, you can help make the props, you could be a background dancer during the cast song. You have endless choices!" Mrs. Carol said cheerfully.
Endless choices? YEAH RIGHT!

"Hmm..I'm not good with electronics so that means sound effects is out! I'm not very artistic, so help making the props is out! Well I guess I could be a background dancer! I'm great at dancing!" I smiled, even though it was fake.
"YAY! Now give me a hug!" Mrs. Carol smiled and put her arms out for a hug.
Ally and me hugged her, we both had a hatefull face.

Maria's....WHAT!

My stomach growled, I was freaking STARVING!
I rushed into the Lunch line at school, Grabbed a Pizza, Nacho's, an ice cream, a fruit salad (I had to have something healthy lol), and a Coke.
Dang, I'm surprised I'm not over 400 pounds by now! lol

I was getting ready to go sit down with my sisters and friends. But then a hand touched my shoulder, I looked behind me. It was Ally!

"Hey Ally" I smiled, but looked down at my hot nacho's that were on my play. My mouth seemed to water.
"Put your food down! The roles for the Play has been decided! The paper is on the Bulliten Board outside the front office!" Ally smiled happily.
"B-b-but.. My food!" I frowned and looked at my food. Dont get me wrong, I was happy that the roles have been decided BUT I was so hungry and wanted to eat my food.

Ally grabbed my tray and sat it down at my sisters table.
"Lets go!" She said and pulled me towards the front office.

There was a bunch of people surrounding the bulliten Board.
"Out of our way!" Ally hissed, and everyone made a path for us.

I looked at the Light pink piece of paper that was on the Board.
I scrolled down and saw Ally's name!

Allison Nichols- Anita (Bernardo's girlfriend)

I looked at Ally and smiled big, she had gotten the part she wanted!

I looked for my name.

AAAHHH! THERE IT IS!

Rebecca Rubin- Maria's Backup

YAY! I got the part I want- WAIT WHAT!
BACKUP?!!!!!

I read over that word several times.
It was there! BACKUP!

My world came crashing down!

That good

I basically ran out of my last class, HISTORY (Yuck!), and went rushing to Drama Class.
I couldnt wait to try out for Maria!
I swear, I was made for this role!

I opened the Drama class doors and went to go sit down by Ally.
Everyone was practicing there lines for tryouts.
Ally and I helped eachother with our lines. Even though I felt like I didnt need any help! I'm good at remembering stuff.

Okay well maybe I'm not good at remembering thingy like homework, but I'am good at remembering Lines in plays!

Ally was trying out as the part of Anita, which is Maria's brother Bernardo's girlfriend!
I hoped that Ally would get the part.

"I hope you all studied your parts that your trying out for! And I hope that you are sure thats the part you want!" Mrs. Carol smiled at us all. I smiled confident and sat on the edge of my seat.

"Okay lets get started!" Mrs. Carole clapped her hands "Joey your up first!"
I boy with jet black hair and brown eyes stood up and walked to the Mini Stage up in the front of the room.

"I will be trying out as Tony" Joey nodded and started saying a bunch of lines.

-A COUPLE PEOPLE LATER-

"Oh Rebecca your up next!" Mrs. Carol looked at me, smiling.
I stood up and practically skipped to the Mini stage.

"I will like to audition for the part of Maria" I told everyone as I looked into the audience (which was the Drama students)
This felt good! It felt like I was ment to be up here on Stage.
I could see some girls faces sulk, I didnt know why.

I started to say my lines.

After I was finished, I felt really good about my tryouts!
Everyone clapped.
"Bravo Miss Rubin!" Mrs. Carol clapped, and I walked back to my seat.

Ally hugged me and told me I did great.
I could hear the girls next to me whispering. Those girls were Diana, Raquel, and Maya.
"We have no chance!" Diana hissed.
"I know right! With Rebecca auditioning for the part of Maria, we have no chance of getting it!" Raquel sulked.
"There's no use in even auditioning for the part of Maria!" Maya snapped and threw her script on the floor.

I felt kinda sad, because I was holding them back from auditioning for the part of Maria! They could have gotten the part!

But then again I kinda felt proud, because they didnt want to audition because I was!
Was I that good?

The Play

I walked into the doors of the Drama room at AGPPA. Ally was at my side (some of you new people that read my blog probally dont know who Ally is! Well she's my BFF, besides Becca)

The reason why I havent been talking about Ally much is because her mom lost her Job and couldnt pay the morgage for there House. So Ally and her younger sister Mia had to go live with her aunt and uncle in Texas, while her mom found a job and was able to get there house back!
Her mom got there house back a week ago and Ally had been back at school this week!

I sat down in one of the seats in Drama Class.
Drama was one of the classes that Becca wasnt in with me, since they wouldnt let her join Drama late in the year!

"Good afternoon my lovely actors and actresses!" Mrs. Carol, our Drama teacher, smiled at us all. Mrs. Carol let us call her by her first name (which is Carol) since she thought that people should refer to her as her name, her first name!
I just thought it was because her and her husband were having problems and she just never wanted us to call her by HIS last name! But whatever...

"I have some VERY exciting news to tell you!" Mrs. Carol got out from behind her desk and walked to the middle of the room.
"What?" Everyone asked excitedly
"In a week or a week in a half we will be doing a play, our final play for the year" Mrs. Carole anounced. Everyone looked at eachother smiling because we were doing another play before the end of the school year.

"What play?" A girl named Macey said.
"It will be.....WEST SIDE STORY!" Mrs. Carol smiled from ear to ear.
"OMG! I love that movie!" I told Ally.
"Me too! But I've never seen the play..." Ally shrugged. I nodded my head because I had never seen the play either.

"For some of you who dont know what West Side story is, it is a musical about the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. The members of the Sharks from Puerto Rico are taunted by the Jets, a white working-class group. The young protagonist, Tony, one of the Jets, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks!" Mrs. Carole drifted away talking as if she was Maria, the girl that Tony falls in love with.

"Sooo...its like Romeo and Juliet?!" A boy named Lance said.
"Yes Lance! I'm happy you pointed that out!" Mrs. Carol smiled at him, coming back to reality.
"When is auditions?" I asked, I was practically on the edge of my seat! This was going to be wonderful! Of course I would try out as the role of Maria!

"Auditions will be held on Monday! So you have all the rest of the week and the weekend to work on the roles your trying out for! We'll try to use everyone of you in the play BUT if we cant, you will be able to help with the music and lighting, ect." Mrs. Carol explained to the students.
Everyone started talking about the Play and which roles they would be trying out for!

"Settle down! I havent even told you the best part yet!" Mrs. Carol laughed.
"Theres more good news!" A girl named Bridget smiled.
"Yep! There will be 2 broadway producers and 1 choreagrapher there watching you all strut your stuff at the play!" Mrs. Carol shouted.

My mouth dropped and everyone started screaming and smiling, and talking.
"OMG!" was all I could say.
This was like my DREAM!
To be discovered by broadway producers and choreographers!
Could this be the thing that gets me discovered!?

Maybe.......
